Which are good one's to get? I craigslisted 196* Convertible and found quite a few awesome looking cars. Such as this Cadillac.
I really dig the color of that interior along with the black exterior. Some day I would love to own a summer cruiser like one of these. Are there some convertibles of this era that are considered much better than others? Which one's are a particularly good value? I definitely don't have the funds for a Continental from this era, however cool they might be. lol.

Can't go wrong with a Caddy.

Love the stacked headlights from the 65-66 Cadillacs. I've also always admired Ford Galaxies. GM had one of these cars for each of their brands both mid size and full size so that gives you about 8 different options. Not as familiar with the Mopar offerings.

I'm not the biggest fan of convertibles, but my favorite car from the era sure looks good with no top, The 63' Galaxie. They should be cheaper, are pretty sharp looking and can be had with the 427.

1966 Imperial Crown convertible.

Oh man, love that Caddy. Between Cadillac and Continental, I think you'd have the range of desirable 1960s open-air land barge pretty well covered.

The one above was going for about $9000 I think, on craigslist.
No interior pics though. Claims no rust. Seems like a fairly decent deal. I really like it in black.

That's a great looking car too! Just googled some more pics of it.

Seriously, that Cadillac is sweeeeeet. And, really, what other color could you possibly want on that car? (I mean, besides like a super-sixties turquoise or something)

It looks to have sold, but there was one in Florida for sale for $4,800 . Didn't include a top, though.

Obligatory Lincoln Town Car anyway! Can't afford it? Sell a kidney or something! They're not TOO bad, really.

Looks like a clean example will set you back around $25K.

I saw some somewhat decent-looking deals on Galaxie's, I do like them. I guy at my work has one.

Haha wow! I could definitely handle a little bit of a fixer-upper, but do want one in running condition. So I think I'd be looking in about the 8 - 12k range.

You just prompted me to find one of the coolest cars I've seen in a while! Check out this 1963 Chrysler 300 'vert:

Haha, I do also dig the white exterior + red interior. I don't like it on a lot of cars, but on a classy 60's landbarge it is totally appropriate.

That is true. Definitely a more... well-known combo, but there's a good reason for that.

you speak the truth, I would love one of those, damn shame it is too long for my garage.

Yeah, for GM I came across a number of Pontiacs and Buicks that looked pretty cool. They don't compare to the Cadillacs and Lincolns though, in my opinion.

That combo works fantastically well for the Lincoln in NinetyQ's post.
What are you implying the reason is?

Sounds like you need a longer garage then. That's the only logical solution.

You should totally have a look at the Caddy, and, as posted on another comment, check out a Galaxie. I'm not a big fan of convertibles either, but these large, slab sided ones are sweet.

I am hoping one of the houses I inherit has a long enough garage also a tall enough garage for my VW Westfalia. Otherwise, time to sell something and get a nice older house.

I probably won't be making a purchase in the next couple of years. I'm just educating myself on all the cars I eventually want to have sitting in my garage, haha. This seems like a good time of year to get a deal, since we are headed into winter nobody is probably very interested in a convertible here in Michigan.

The reason? Because it looks awesome. It's just that you see it a lot.

The '66 is my second-favorite Imperial of all. Especially the Crown convertible. Gotta love the 440, crosshatch grille, headlight covers, and the last year of the unique BOF construction.
